17 Point Scoring
Common 17 point scoring questions
The winning and losing score of every game will equal 17
Determining the score can be approached in 2 ways
Winning player receives 10 points for winning PLUS 1 point for each opponent ball still on the table and the losing player receives 1 point for each ball pocketed
-OR-osing player receives 1 point for every one of their balls pocketed and the winning player receives 17 - the losing player's points
Early 8, 8 in wrong pocket, scratch when making the 8
In a 17 point system, when a player makes the 8 out of turn, makes the 8 in the wrong pocket or scratches while making the 8 it is scored as:
Winning player receives 10 points plus 1 point for each ball that the losing player still has on the table
Losing player receives one point for each of their pocketed balls
Any of the winning player's balls that remain on the table are irrelevant
Break & Run, Table Run
A break and run is acheived when the breaking player wins the game without the non breaking player receiving a turn at the table. Any of the non breaking player's balls made in the process will still count for the non breaking player's points and will be subtracted from the breaking player's points.
A table run is achaived when the breaking player failsl to make a ball on the break and then the non breaking player wins the game on their first turn at the table. Any of the breaking player's balls that are incidentally pocketed during the process will count for the breaking player and be subtracted from the non breaking player's points.
